I first discovered Shiatsu by accident. I was feeling lost, anxious and stressed in my life and thought I would book in for a relaxing ‘massage’ at a festival. The Shiatsu I received was so much more powerful and satisfying than a massage – I felt a deep sense of peace for the first time in years, and a deeper connection to a part of myself I had lost touch with. I decided then and there that I wanted to learn how to offer this opportunity to other people!
In 2018, I began my three years of training at the Bristol School of Shiatsu. While learning the art of Shiatsu, I was taken on a journey of self-discovery, working through personal issues and developing a greater understanding of myself. I have introduced practices of self-care into my life to support my own health, such as daily qigong and meditation, and feel a deeper spiritual connection to myself and the natural world around me.
What I enjoy the most about Shiatsu is the humanness of it, connecting with a person on a deeper level, meeting in their vulnerability, or wherever they are at, and together exploring what they need. It is ultimately the innate wisdom of the receiver’s body that does the healing and rebalances itself. This is where real change is possible!
